Olimba Camp
Olimba Camp has a beautiful riverside setting on the northern edge of the Nsefu Sector of Zambia’s South Luangwa National Park. The camp is shaded by a stand of magnificent jackalberry or ebony trees on the eastern bank of the Luangwa River.
Accommodation
Olimba Camp has four chalets made from a combination of canvas, gauze, thatch, and cement screed, creating spacious and very comfortable rooms with en-suite bathrooms, inside and outside showers, and solar power. The camp has a large thatched chitenje, or main lodge, with a dining table, sofas and a bar, and a plunge pool on the deck outside. Meals will often be served al fresco, and drinks will be enjoyed around the campfire.
Wildlife & Activities
The wildlife population in South Luangwa is astonishing for its richness and density, and big lion prides, packs of wild dog, hyena clans, and plenty of leopards patrol this pristine wilderness. Large herds of buffalo, plenty of elephants, giraffe, zebra, kudu, waterbuck, impala, kob, and a massive number of hippos and crocodiles can be seen here. South Luangwa is home to more than 470 birds species too, including the seasonal carmine bee-eaters. Olimba offers day and night wildlife drives with some of Zambia’s finest guides in open vehicles, walking safaris, and several cleverly positioned photographic hides. Guests can also visit the local village and meet some of the school children supported by Remote Africa Safaris.
