Beagle Expeditions

Beagle Expeditions is a small, owner-run mobile safari offering exclusive access to a wild 74,000 acres of the vast Abu private concession in the western Okavango Delta. Beagle is only accessible by helicopter and is well off the beaten track for an authentic and remote safari experience. Beagle Expeditions’ Kweene River Trail allows guests to spend time in two exclusive camps set in contrasting locations.

Accommodation & Facilities
Kweene River Camp and Magwegwe Camp are both simple but comfortable authentic safari camps hidden among large trees on the edge of the floodplains, accommodating no more than 12 guests at any time. Guests stay in spacious Meru tents with single beds, good linen bedding and en-suite bathrooms with a bucket shower and bush loo. The large mess tent stretched between two huge trees has a communal dining table, a bar, and a carpeted area and cushions for relaxing. Outside is a campfire, which is the setting for early morning coffee, evening drinks, and sometimes dinner under the stars too.

Wildlife & Activities
The wildlife in Beagle’s region is rich and varied, with plentiful elephant, buffalo, lion, leopard, giraffe, kudu, zebra, wildebeest, tsessebe, warthog, and baboon. Wild dogs are often seen too, and the birdlife is superb. Guests can enjoy day and night wildlife drives with a guide and tracker, mokoro trips when water levels allow, and superb walking safaris. When travelling between Kweene River and Magwegwe camps, the options are a longer walking safari or a mokoro journey if there’s enough water. As there is no timetable, guests can spend as long as they wish out in the bush looking for wildlife, and they will see absolutely no one else during their safari.
