Moela Safari Lodge

Moela Safari Lodge is in a 770-hectare private concession high on the banks of the Boteti River Valley on the edge of Botswana’s Makgadikgadi Pans National Park. Migrant zebra and wildebeest congregate in the valley below in their thousands, offering guests front row seats to this safari phenomenon, one of the largest mammal migrations in Southern Africa.

Accommodation & Facilities
Moela has eight open-plan tents under thatched roofs with spectacular views of the valley from their private decks. The minimalist Afro-chic rooms have a cool clay outer layer which with the mesh windows, allows good climate control. The en-suite bathrooms have showers and flush loos, plenty of hanging space, and universal plug points. The lodge has a lovely main building with a lounge, dining room, bar, and deck. There is a pool with a super view of the valley, and a spa.

Wildlife & Activities
With a vast amount of wildlife coming straight to the lodge for six to nine months each year, and access to Makgadikgadi Pans and Nxai Pan National Parks, Moela is well located to enjoy a variety of habitats and activities, including watching wildlife from the lodge or the pool. Activities include wildlife drives on the private concession and in the Makgadikgadi National Park, nature walks, seasonal boating on the Boteti River, the chance to track animals and learn from the ancient Ju/’hoansi San people, and accompany the San Bushmen on a wildlife drive. Visits to the local communities and sleep outs on the Pans can also be arranged with advance notice.
