Murchison River Lodge

Murchison River Lodge is a simple and comfortable ecologically sensitive camp built on the south bank of the Nile River overlooking Murchison Falls National Park.

Accommodation and Facilities
The property has both thatched cottages, including one family unit, and tents as well as a campsite. The cottages offer en-suite bathrooms with a loo and shower powered by a solar geezer, and lovely verandahs perfect for relaxing. The safari tents have outdoor bush showers and chemical toilets. The main area consists of a thatched bar, lounge area and restaurant that serves hearty meals with a terrific view over the Nile, the large papyrus islands and the National Park which is just over a kilometre away. At night, the fire pit is an inviting place to spend time swapping stories of the day’s activities over a sundowner. There is also a swimming pool in the grounds.
Wildlife and Activities
The Lodge is perfectly situated to take advantage of Uganda’s largest national park. With your guide, you can take morning and afternoon game drives amidst hartebeest, Uganda kob, elephant, giraffe, lion, leopard, buffalo and impressive birdlife. Boat cruises afford an opportunity to see the elusive shoebill, pods of hippo and some of the largest crocodiles remaining in Africa. Walking trails around the Falls offer spectacular views, or consider fishing for the enormous Nile Perch or a visit to the Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary.
