Shamwari Game Reserve in the Eastern Cape is one the most successful private conservation initiatives in Southern Africa, covering 20,000 hectares of malaria-free land and home to a diverse range of animal and birdlife.

Accommodation & Facilities
Bayethe Tented Lodge is a luxury tented lodge providing a traditional safari experience. Bayethe translates as ‘I salute you’ and this is resonated in the warm welcome you get when you arrive at the lodge. There are 12 tents which all come with a plunge pool, en-suite bathroom and an indoor and outdoor shower. There superior tents feature a private deck, hammock and fireplace.

Wildlife & Activities
Shamwari is renowned for its conservation work, and guests have the opportunity to visit the reserve’s animal rehabilitation centre which includes a hospital and education centre. It has a wide variety of animals including the “Big 5” of lion, leopard, rhino, elephant and buffalo.
