Duke’s East
Duke’s East is a gorgeous little tented camp hidden away on an island on a large private concession in the north of Botswana’s magnificent Okavango Delta. The camp is well shaded by mature trees and overlooks a waterway, and floodplains beyond that often have plenty of wildlife on them.
Accommodation & Facilities
Duke’s East has just four big safari tents on decks delicately placed between the leadwood and ebony trees, with en-suite bathrooms that have inside and outside showers. The tents are decorated in classic campaign style, with mahogany and iron furniture and kilim rugs, and have lovely shady verandahs with fantastic views across the channel and the floodplains. The two-bedroom family tent has its own plunge pool. Duke’s East has a lovely mess tent with a dining room, lounge and bar, and a deck with a pool and shade canopy, and a camp fire pit under the trees outside.
Wildlife & Activities
Duke’s East offers superb wildlife viewing on day and night drives in open vehicles, giving guests the freedom to explore the pristine wilderness, which is home to healthy populations of lion, leopard, cheetah, and elephant, red lechwe and even sitatunga. Mokoro (dug-out canoe) safaris are a lovely way to see more of the flora and fauna of the Delta from a different angle, and catch and release fishing is offered from March to December.
