Laluka Safari Lodge
Laluka Safari Lodge is a small family-run property in Welgevonden Game Reserve, in South Africa’s malaria-free Waterberg region. The lodge is hidden away in the northeast of Welgevonden and has a productive organic farm next door, which supplies fresh produce for incredible dining in between fantastic wildlife viewing. Giulia and Simon Eeeman own and manage the lodge, alongside Simon’s father, Didier, with a focus on guest experience and sustainability.
Accommodation & Facilities
Laluka Lodge blends into its surroundings, being mostly built of thatch and stone. The lodge has six air-conditioned rooms with en-suite bathrooms, an indoor and outdoor shower, and private plunge pools on the large verandahs. The thatched main lodge has a dining room with an open kitchen, a bar, wine cellar, and lounge, and a spa and photographic studio.
Wildlife & Activities
Welgevonden is 40,000 hectares of excellent rugged wildlife habitat and is home to lion, leopard, buffalo, elephant, black and white rhino and plenty of plains species. Guests can explore the reserve on day and night wildlife drives, enjoying the mix of open, grassy plains, woodland, thickets, and lush riverine habitats. Walking safaris, which should be pre-booked, are a wonderful way to learn more about the finer details of the bush. Guests can enjoy an astronomy session with a trained guide or spend a night fly-camping – the night sky here is spectacular.
