Monachira Camp
Monachira Camp is in Botswana’s Moremi Game Reserve and is named after the Monachira Channel that flows past it. Under the shade of riverine trees, the camp, raised on wooden decks overlooks open floodplains and seasonal wetlands.
Accommodation & Facilities
The camp has eight safari tents, including two for families, raised on decks with views over the floodplains. The tents have en-suite bathrooms with indoor and outdoor showers, and a private verandah. The two family tents have two en-suite bedrooms and shared living space. The central mess includes a bar, lounge, and large firepit, serving as the main gathering point in camp. A swimming pool and sun deck offer space to relax between activities.
Wildlife & Activities
Monachira offers land and water activities, with wildlife drives exploring quiet corners of Moremi and walking safaris when water levels allow. The camp’s location on the permanent Monachira Channel also allows for both motorboat excursions and mokoro trips through the reed-fringed channels. Wildlife sightings include elephant, lion, leopard, and a variety of plains wildlife, with a good chance of sitatunga in the surrounding wetlands. The nearby Gudikwe heronries attract large numbers of nesting storks, egrets and herons, and guests might even encounter a Pel’s fishing owl.
