Omali Lodge

Omali Lodge has a lovely setting in a former plantation close to Lagarto beach on Sao Tome Island. The tiny island state of Sao Tome and Principe straddles the Equator, about 150 miles west from the West African coast in the Atlantic Ocean. Omali Lodge is a good base for exploring the town and the island with the National Museum, São Tomé’s southern beaches, and community-run cacao and coffee farms all within easy reach.

Accommodation and Facilities
Omali Lodge is an attractive boutique hotel with 30 rooms spread out between a variety of new and old buildings in the large tropical gardens. The rooms are well equipped with air conditioning, a tv and safe, en-suite bathrooms, and comfortable beds. The lodge has a swimming pool, tennis court, gym, and lounge, along with a restaurant and two bars.

Experience and Activities
São Tomé is tiny and was uninhabited until 1470. It was colonised by the Portuguese who recognised its potential as a place for growing sugar cane and cacao. The island is mountainous and densely forested, and has rich seas surrounding it. The activities on offer here include exploring the old colonial towns and villages, old plantations, bird watching, meeting local people and learning about their culture and history, and diving.
