Shamwari Riverdene Family Lodge

Shamwari Game Reserve in the Eastern Cape is one the most successful private conservation initiatives in Southern Africa, covering 20,000 hectares of malaria-free land and home to a diverse range of animal and bird life.

Accommodation and Facilities
Riverdene Family Lodge is in the southern area of the reserve and is perfect for families.  The nine comfortable rooms, seven of which are inter-leading, have space for an additional sleeper couch.  All of the rooms feature air conditioning, lounge and private patio.  The lodge has a large dining room, lounge and bar, a lovely swimming pool with shallow area for children, supervised kids club, toddler play area and kids adventure centre.

Wildlife and Activities
Wildlife viewing activities from Riverdene consist of wildlife drives in open vehicles (children aged four and over can join), and guided bush walks. Shamwari is renowned for its conservation work and guests have the opportunity to visit the reserve’s animal rehabilitation centre which includes a hospital and education centre.  There is a wide variety of animals on the reserve including the “Big 5” of lion, leopard, rhino, elephant and buffalo.
