Tum Tum Treehouse Lodge

This imaginative lodge has a wonderfully peaceful setting in a camel thorn forest in southeast Hwange National Park, Zimbabwe’s premier wildlife reserve. Tum Tum is an ancient name given to the waterhole that the camp overlooks by the San hunter gatherers who once lived here, on the eastern edge of the Kalahari basin.

Accommodation & Facilities
Tum Tum has four tree houses and one safari tent with two bedrooms. The tree houses have been carefully built into the camel thorn forest, without causing any damage to these ancient trees, on decks raised five metres off the ground. The rooms have canvas walls, glass doors and windows, fans, and en-suite bathrooms. The safari tent is on a deck close to ground level. The deck has a lounge and dining space and a splash pool. The lodge has an open sided mess tent under a large canvas cover set on a teak deck, a bar, lounge, and dining room, and a lower deck for al fresco meals.

Wildlife & Activities
Hwange National Park has an excellent wildlife population, including huge herds of elephant, large prides of lion, hyena, wild dog, leopard, cheetah, buffalo, giraffe, zebra, kudu, roan and sable antelope, impala, and many more herbivores and a wealth of birds. The activities on offer at Tum Tum include wildlife drives in open vehicles, walking safaris with superb Zimbabwean professional guides, the use of the photographic hide beside Mandiseka pan, and visits to Mlevu Rhino Sanctuary and the Cobra Community Wildlife Protection Unit that guards the rhinos. Visits to a local school and village can also be arranged.
