Turaco Treetops

Turaco Treetops is situated in a small private concession adjacent to Kibale Forest National Park, not far from Fort Portal in western Uganda. The lodge is well spaced out amongst the huge trees of the lush forest.

Accommodation and Facilities
Turaco Treetops has nine rooms raised on stilts to give lovely forest views. The Chimp house has space for two adults, while the eight luxury forest cottages sleep up to five guests, with big double or twin beds and a sofa that can become additional beds, ideal for families. The rooms have ensuite bathrooms with flush loos and hot showers, wooden flooring, and a verandah with easy chairs. The lodge has a lovely main building with an upper and lower storey. Downstairs, there is a restaurant, bar, lounge and terrace, and upstairs is another lounge with far reaching views over the forest to the snow-capped Rwenzori Mountains, perfect for sundowners. Outside, the lodge also has a well sized pool.

Experience and Activities
Kibale Forest National Park is renowned for the fast-moving troops of habituated chimpanzees that live in the forest. Turaco Treetops is a great place for accessing the forest and tracking the chimps on foot. In addition to this, day and night forest walks, and bird watching at Bigodi Swamp are highlights of a stay. More than eight other primate species and 360 birds can be seen in the forest and swamps here. Turaco Treetops can also arrange visits to local villages, tea estates, and one of the local crater lakes.
