Wilderness Mara

Wilderness Mara is in the spectacular Mara Triangle Conservancy in the north-western corner of Kenya’s Masai Mara, where the Oloololo Escarpment suddenly rises 2,000 feet from the open plains and the winding Mara River meanders through forest and grassland. The camp has an idyllic setting around a small permanent marsh, which attracts a wealth of wildlife and birdlife throughout the year.

Accommodation & Facilities
Wilderness Mara has 12 comfortable and tastefully appointed tents, including one family suite, all with en-suite bathrooms, indoor and outdoor showers, and a private verandah overlooking the camp’s waterhole. A swimming pool, spa, gym and photographic study provide plenty of space to unwind between wildlife drives, while the semi-open lounge and bar make the most of the views. Dining includes an atmospheric Manyatta dinner beneath the stars, with fire cooking and Maasai culture.

Wildlife & Activities
The Mara Triangle is home to very large herds of buffalo, elephant, wildebeest, zebra, topi and kongoni, and hippo, giraffe, cheetah, spotted hyena, and leopard are frequently seen. The Masai Mara is renowned for its magnificent black-maned lions with their large prides who spend most of the day sleeping in the shade of the acacia trees. The Mara normally hosts the wildebeest migration between mid-July and mid-October on their annual trek from the southern plains of the Serengeti. Guests can enjoy wildlife drives in open safari vehicles to see this rich wildlife, excellent birdwatching, and a visit to a local Maasai community. Hot air balloon flights can also be arranged for an additional cost.
