Kigelia Camp
Kigelia Camp is a small authentic tented safari camp in a secluded location in the Ruaha National Park. The camp is set within a grove of sausage trees (Kigelia Africana) on the bank of the Ifuguru River, one of Ruaha’s seasonal sand rivers, not far from the confluence of the Mwagusi and Great Ruaha Rivers.
Accommodation & Facilities
The camp has just six large safari tents, one with two bedrooms to suit a family and all with beautiful views over the river, and great comfort and privacy. The tents have solar lighting, a flush loo, outside bucket shower, and a star bed on a raised platform for matchless views of the African night sky. The beds are big and very comfortable, and the tents also have a verandah with a table and chairs for relaxation. The camp has a beautifully designed thatched mess with a dining table, bar, and lounge.
Wildlife & Activities
The wildlife in Ruaha National Park is among the most diverse in Tanzania, and it tends to congregate along the Great Ruaha River during the dry season. The sand rivers that run off the escarpment provide food and water until such time as the land has dried out too much, and the camp is ideally situated to take advantage of this seasonal influx of wildlife. Guests can enjoy day and night wildlife drives and walking safaris with excellent guides, and sleep-outs on the star beds beside each tent.
