GweGwe Beach Lodge

GweGwe Beach Lodge has a wonderful clifftop setting in the Mkambati Nature Reserve, a little known gem on South Africa’s aptly named Wild Coast. It is one of very few places in the world where guests can see wildlife on land and dolphins and whales offshore. Situated on a stretch of untamed coastline between dramatic cliffs, waterfalls, dense swamp forest, and clear waters, guests can enjoy wildlife watching, land and beach activities, and exploring.

Accommodation and Facilities
GweGwe beach Lodge has just nine rooms, two of which have two bedrooms and are ideal for families. The rooms have en-suite bathrooms with inside and outside showers, a lounge, fireplace, deck and six metre pool. The main lodge has a lounge, bar, dining room, and an open interactive kitchen, and a wine cellar. The lodge also has a beach bar, gym, spa, and activity centre.

Wildlife and Activities
Set in the 7,500-hectare Mkambati Nature Reserve, the lodge’s private concession has diverse ecosystems including coastal forests, grasslands, and riverine habitats, with many fascinating pockets to explore. There is wildlife galore, and a plethora of birds, and the activities on offer include swimming, hiking, cycling, scuba diving, snorkeling, kayaking, and paddle boarding, and learning about the local Pondo people and their way of life.
