Ant’s River Lodge

Ant’s River Lodge has a lovely water’s edge setting beside the Mokolo River on the 16,400 hectare Kaingo Game Reserve in South Africa’s malaria-free Waterberg region. Kaingo is an easy three-hour drive from Johannesburg, and the lodge is ideal for self-drivers.

Accommodation & Facilities
Ant’s River Lodge has ten air-conditioned stone cottages with thatched roofs, en-suite bathrooms, shaded verandahs, a mini bar, and a kettle. The lodge has a large central building with a dining room, lounge, and bar, and there’s a pool and viewing deck outside with a campfire nearby.

Wildlife & Activities
Privately owned Kaingo Game Reserve is home to lion, elephant, buffalo, leopard, black and white rhino, brown hyena, cheetah, hippo, giraffe, kudu, wildebeest, and plenty of birdlife. The Mokolo River has carved a gorge into the plateau, which has provided shelter for bushmen for several millennia, evidence of which can be seen at many rock art sites on the reserve. The gorge offers guests wonderful scenery and the unusual chance to do a boat cruise or enjoy some fishing. Day and night wildlife drives, walking safaris, boat cruises, fishing, and birdwatching are all on offer at Ant’s River Lodge, and horse riding for experienced riders can be arranged on specific dates.
