Mokolwane

Mokolwane Camp has a gorgeous setting in a patch of forest and mokolwane palms beside the Matsebi River in the Xudum concession in the south of the Okavango Delta. The camp has almost exclusive access to 200,000-hectares of Botswana’s finest wilderness.

Accommodation & Facilities
Mokolwane Camp as just seven Meru-style safari tents built onto raised timber decks. The camp has been designed so that the tents are shaded by the magnificent fig, jackalberry, sausage, and wild mangosteen trees and mokolwane (ilala) palms. The well-ventilated tents have en-suite bathrooms with inside showers and flush loos, and there’s a large private verandah out front. Access to the mess tent is by walkways, and the dining room, bar and lounge is on another large deck with an elevated view across the floodplain in front of the camp.

Wildlife & Activities
The concession has a large population of elephant and one the highest densities of leopard in Botswana. Lions, hyena, wild dogs and cheetah can also sometimes be seen, and with virtually no other vehicles around, guests can enjoy the wildlife and wilderness peace and quiet with excellent guides. Wildlife drives in open safari vehicles are the best way to explore this wonderful place, and the camp gives guests the freedom to spend as long as they wish out in the bush each day. Thanks to the variety of habitats, and the number of waterways, the bird life is also excellent.
