Basecamp Masai Mara
Basecamp Masai Mara is set in a dense patch of riverine forest beside the Talek River in the Masai Mara National Reserve. The camp has a lovely location for access to excellent wildlife viewing and offers guests peace and quiet too. The camp provides an excellent base for learning about conservation initiatives such as the Basecamp Nature Forest and the Masai Beading Center, which encourage the maintaining of local culture and the development of talent.
Accommodation & Facilities
Basecamp Masai Mara has 17 spacious safari tents hidden in the forest and well spaced along the river bank. The tents have en-suite bathrooms with inside and outside showers, and ecologically friendly flushing loos. The camp has a lovely mess tent with a dining room, bar and lounge all overlooking the river.
Wildlife & Activities
Wildlife drives are usually in the early morning and late afternoon when most animals are more active. Lion, leopard, cheetah, hyena, elephant, buffalo, giraffe, wildebeest, zebra and warthog are among the animals that might be seen here, and knowledgeable Maasai guides will introduce guests to life in the savannah and African wildlife and the interactions and behaviour. Bird watching is also excellent at Basecamp Masai Mara. African sunsets are among the best on earth, and most sundowner spots also offer amazing opportunities for a photographic session. Afternoon wildlife drives often end with a drink to toast the setting sun.
