Shompole Wilderness Camp

Shompole Wilderness is a small tented camp located deep in the south of Kenya’s Great Rift Valley. Situated between Amboseli National Park and the famous Maasai Mara National Reserve, guests have access to over 350,000 acres, in an area with very few other tourists. The stunning colours of Lake Magadi and Lake Natron, filled with vast numbers of Lesser and Greater Flamingos make this one of the most unique and photogenic destinations in Kenya.

Accommodation & Facilities
Shompole has six safari tents on raised decks with views of either the river or the plains. The tents are very private and designed for maximum airflow to keep them cool, with large beds, en-suite bathrooms, and big verandahs, the tents are very comfortable. The camp has a raised dining room and a separate lounge, bar, and library on its own deck. There is a pool and tea house with a big view across the plains, and a sunken hide on the other side of the river.

Wildlife & Activities
Shompole offers the chance to experience nature both in and out of a safari vehicle. Activities include day and night wildlife drives, bush walks and runs, fishing,  tubing and kayaking when waterlevels allow. It is also one of the few places in East Africa where you can walk with habituated baboons.
