African Safari – The Ultimate Multi-Generational Holiday

Dreams of a safari in Africa evoke images of iconic wildlife, epic landscapes, and sundowners against a stunning backdrop of the setting sun. A safari is the perfect multi-generational family holiday with something for everyone from tiny tots to grandparents, aunts, and uncles. Whether celebrating a big birthday, a retirement, or an anniversary, enjoying the shared experience of Africa is something that will delight the whole family.

A trip of a lifetime for every generation

Africa offers a huge selection of superb exclusive-use properties that are perfectly suited for a large family, and with a variety of activities over and above the classic wildlife drive, that are ideal for children of all ages, even those who’ve retired.

Easy and accessible

Africa is an easy and accessible destination from Europe as it is almost in the same time zone, with little to no jetlag which is always a bonus for families. There are direct flights to Kenya and South Africa and easy onward connections. There are also direct flights from New York to Nairobi and Atlanta to Johannesburg, cutting out a huge amount of time and making the hop across the pond much easier. All of this means that you arrive feeling fresher and can focus more time on your safari.

Incredible destinations

Africa offers an astonishing variety of attractions, from the Okavango Delta to the Kenyan Highlands, the action-packed dunes of Namibia to the malaria-free reserves of South Africa, the vast number of white-sand fringed Indian Ocean beaches, and varied cityscapes. Africa has a whole host of destinations that work perfectly for families of all ages and as a team, we are well placed to offer advice with many of us embarking on African adventures with our own children.

Exceptional lodgings

There is a somewhat overwhelming array of exclusive-use safari properties across sub-Saharan Africa, each with something different to offer.  We can help you pick out the perfect safari accommodation to suit your family; exclusive use safari camps, charming homesteads and lodges, and exclusive properties comprising a collection of private villas, there is something for everyone, with children being completely safe and fully entertained by attentive staff, leaving you to soak it all in.

How realistic is a once in a life time multigenerational safari holiday this Christmas school break 2026 for a group of eight – grandparents, aunt & uncle, parents and two children aged 10 and 7 years? Our wish list would include an exclusive quirky lodge, full board, a swimming pool, malaria free??

    • Dear Alison, thank you for your comment. A trip like this is certainly possible, and we’d love to help. I have passed your details on to one of our travel experts, who will be in touch shortly to discuss your plans and some suitable options. Best wishes, Maggie
